This fish's job is to filter the sand.
It mouths the sand and discharges them thru a hole in its belly, as you can see above.

The snail also helps in cleaning the aquarium.
Iana and Carlo met a guy who fell in love with corals and now owns a 200 gallon tank aquarium in his home, filled with it. Every morning, he does "gardening" in his aquarium and says of it, "Very therapeutic."
I can imagine.
