But that's not it. In the days leading up to this visit, she's been bragging about scrubbing her whole house clean, even the bathroom! When we arrived here from the airport, she was quick to setting up the table, w/o asking for help. I flew thousands of nautical miles away from home to visit this first world country and the first thing that amazed me was my domesticated sister.
Congratulations sis, I'm real proud!
The drive from the airport to the home she shares w/ her hubby Pancho in Lake Balboa, CA was dull and long. Dull in that Los Angeles (I have long forgotten) look so much like Manila. It's like I never left. LAX even looks like NAIA 1 from the airplane. Only upon going in and seeing black workers and hearing Mexicanos that the I'm-in-the-US reality hit me. Long in that it's really long, and mostly on Freeway. If there was anything fascinating or close to it, the evening sky cloaked in darkness. Let's see tomorrow.
We flew in LA aerial territory w/ an intense sunset in the background. It was a deep orange. Whatta way to end a 15-hr flight. 15 hrs, seriously. Watched 4 movies and slept through the rest.
1) My Sister's Keeper -- Beautiful soundtrack I must say! I'm not a fan of the script, but I think the drama is great. I am officially a fan of Abigail Breslin. Fell for her first in Little Miss Sunshine, fell for her again in this movie.
2) My Life in Ruins -- Don't bother. Watched to the end ONLY to see Greece.
3) The Proposal -- Worth the two hours.
4) The Soloist -- Instantly connected with this movie that's actually based on a true story. I'm reading the series of articles that Steve Lopez wrote about the movie's other protagonist, Nathaniel Ayers. Touching, so touching.
The Mexicano who interviewed us at the immigration winked at me, mama said.
Hehe.
